RAW VS JPEG

  1. Explain the main differences between a raw and jpeg file.

Size: RAW files are significantly bigger than JPEG (and any other) image file formats.

Data: Whereas JPEGs discard data in order to create a smaller file size, RAW files preserve all of that data.

Processing: Unlike a RAW file, a JPEG is a processed version of an image. A JPEG image always starts out as a RAW file, but then undergoes various modifications, often including compression, sharpening, increased saturation, and increased contrast.

Quality: JPEG files are more convenient and practical for everyday use due to their smaller file size and wider compatibility, but RAW files offer superior image quality and more post-processing flexibility.

2. Which file is bigger RAW or Jpeg? RAW files are bigger than Jpeg files.

3. Can you change a Raw file to a Jpeg, once your photos are the computer? How?

Start the software and open your RAW image.

Choose one of the editing modes that suits your needs: Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Automatic or some other.

Now you can start working magic on your photo. PhotoWorks is not just a simple picture editor but a powerful image enhancer that lets you make your pictures perfect in a click. For example, the smart auto correction will find all the flaws like overexposure, lack of contrast, incorrect ISO balance and fix them right away.

4.  If you were shooting an important event would you shoot it RAW or Jpeg? Explain. I would shoot Jpeg because I have more experience with Jpeg than RAW.
