RAW VS JPEG

  1. Explain the main differences between a raw and jpeg file.

Size: RAW files are significantly bigger than JPEG (and any other) image file formats.

Data: Whereas JPEGs discard data in order to create a smaller file size, RAW files preserve all of that data.

Processing: Unlike a RAW file, a JPEG is a processed version of an image. A JPEG image always starts out as a RAW file, but then undergoes various modifications, often including compression, sharpening, increased saturation, and increased contrast.

Quality: JPEG files are more convenient and practical for everyday use due to their smaller file size and wider compatibility, but RAW files offer superior image quality and more post-processing flexibility.
